The Loan Calculator is intentionally simple: enter the loan amount, interest rate, and term in months — get back the monthly payment, total interest paid, and an amortization schedule. It works for any installment loan: car loans, student lines of credit, personal loans, even a private mortgage. The math is the same; only the rate changes.
The Credit Card Comparison tool is the more interesting one. Most credit card 'best of' lists rank cards by their highest-possible cashback rate — useless if you don't spend $40K/yr in the right categories. Ours asks for your actual monthly grocery, gas, restaurant, and travel spend, then ranks every major Canadian card (Scotia, CIBC, RBC, TD, Amex, Tangerine, Rogers, MBNA, etc.) by net annual value after the annual fee.
What you'll usually find: if you spend under ~$2K/month total, the no-fee Tangerine Money-Back or Rogers World Elite Mastercard wins. If you spend $4K+ and travel, Amex Cobalt or Scotiabank Passport Visa Infinite usually edges out. The tool removes the guesswork.
