Alberta residents pay both federal income tax (set by the CRA) and provincial income tax. Both use marginal brackets: each dollar of income is taxed at the rate of the bracket it falls into, not your highest rate on every dollar.
For 2026, the federal lowest bracket dropped to 14%. The Alberta basic personal amount of $22,769 shields the first portion of your income from provincial tax. CPP contributions are capped at gross income of $71,300, with a second-tier CPP2 contribution up to $81,200.
